From a family of fishers, sailors, and hosts to one of the oldest boat rental companies on Hvar. Our story is written on the sea — and it starts with our father.

1987: Three Boats and a Hand-Painted Sign
It started with three small Pasara boats and a hand-painted "RENT A BOAT" sign on the Hvar waterfront, right in front of our family home. Modest beginnings, but our father's warmth turned those first few rentals into a legacy.
Nearly four decades later, he is still the heart of Boka Boats. You'll see him every morning — checking lines, talking to guests, and ensuring our standards never slip.
The Roots: Hospitality in Our DNA
We didn't learn hospitality from a textbook; we grew up with it.
Our great-uncle Ive owned the very first tourist boat in Hvar — a sailboat named Prva ("First"). Our grandfather was a fisherman who knew these currents by heart. And while we handle the sea, our aunts continue the tradition of renting rooms in the same family house where our story began.
Hospitality isn't something we learned from a book. It's what we grew up with.
Growing with the Sea
We were among the first in Hvar to launch a website and offer instant WhatsApp support, but we've never tried to be the largest rental agency. We prefer being the best.
We've traded the old Tomos engines for modern speedboats and luxury RIBs, but our commitment remains: every boat is maintained by us, every tour is 100% private, and every guest leaves as a friend.
Today & Tomorrow
We're not the largest boat rental in the area, and we don't try to be. Our focus has always been on our guests and their experience — making sure every trip is safe, personal, and worth remembering.
We keep improving — adding new boats, new routes, and new ways to make your time on the sea easier and more enjoyable. But at the core, we're still the same family from Hvar, doing what we love most: sharing our sea with you.

Where it begins
Great-uncle Ive operates the first tourist boat in Hvar — a sailboat named Prva. The family's bond with the sea, and with guests, starts here.
Three boats and a sign
Boris hangs a hand-painted "RENT A BOAT" sign on the Hvar waterfront. Three pasara boats, Tomos 4 engines, and a knowledge of every bay. A family business is born.
The war years
Tourism stops overnight. Boris serves in the Croatian Navy. The family holds on to the boats and waits for peace.
Back on the water
Peace returns, and so does Boris — straight back to Hvar and the boats. Young Dario starts helping out while joining JK Zvir sailing club alongside his father. Boris eventually becomes vice-president of the club, a role he still holds today.
Beyond the pasaras
The fleet's first speedboat — a 5.3-metre boat with a 90hp engine. The beginning of the transition from traditional pasaras to a modern rental fleet.
Going online
The first website goes live. Among the first in Hvar to offer online booking and WhatsApp support — bringing a family business into the digital age.
The full crew
Viktorija takes over bookings and guest relations. Jan joins as skipper and fleet manager. After years of skippering and building the website, Dario runs day-to-day operations. The whole family, one business.
