Biševo Island
A dramatic sea cave on Biševo island once home to Mediterranean monk seals — swim or snorkel through the massive cavern entrance.

The Monk Seal Cave (Medvidina špilja) is one of the largest sea caves on the Adriatic coast, located on the south side of the island Biševo, not far from the famous Blue Cave. Named after the Mediterranean monk seals that once sheltered here, the cave has a massive entrance you can swim right into.
The cavern is enormous — roughly 50 metres deep with a wide, high entrance that allows sunlight to penetrate and illuminate the turquoise water inside. Swimming or snorkelling into the cave is an unforgettable experience, with the light playing off the walls and the water below.
Unlike the Blue Cave, the Monk Seal Cave has no entrance fee and no queue — you simply swim in. It's a popular add-on stop on our Blue Cave tour, usually combined with the Blue Cave and a visit to Biševo's quiet bay for swimming.
