Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about boat rental, private tours, and transfers from Hvar.
Absolutely. If you don't hold a recognised boating licence, we can provide an experienced local skipper for any of our boats. The skipper knows all the best spots around Hvar and the Pakleni Islands, so you can sit back and enjoy the day without worrying about navigation or paperwork.
Self-drive boat rentals start from around €100/day for smaller boats (depending on the season).
Speed boats start from €200/day for self-drive, while the skipper fee is €80 on top of the boat price.
We also have guided private tours, starting at €250 for a 2-hour sunset tour, 4-hour half-day tours, and 8-hour full-day tours.
It depends on the boat. Our luxury boats have a toilet (WC) on board. Smaller boats do not, but our tours include regular stops at islands and beaches where facilities are available. If having a bathroom on board is important to you, let us know when booking and we'll recommend the right boat.
Our boats come equipped with a cooler, snorkelling masks, and almost all boats have a Bluetooth sound system so you can play your own music. Sun canopies and swimming ladders are standard. Specific amenities vary by boat — check each boat's listing for full details or ask us before booking.
Yes! You're welcome to bring your own food and drinks on board. We provide a cooler to keep everything cold and include bottled water on all tours. If you'd like us to arrange anything special — such as a champagne setup for a celebration — please let us know in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate.
The Betina 500 Open (30HP) is a major upgrade from the basic Pasara 5HP.
It depends on the boat.
For certain self-drive rentals like the Betina 500 Open, fuel is included in the daily price.
The crossing from Hvar to Vis involves open sea and conditions can change quickly. Smaller boats (under 6m) are generally not suitable for this route due to waves, wind, and safety considerations.
If visiting Vis or the Blue Cave is on your wishlist, we strongly recommend booking one of our larger RIBs with a professional skipper. Our skippers know the local waters, monitor weather closely, and can ensure a safer, more comfortable journey.
Always confirm your intended itinerary with us in advance, so we can advise you on the best boat option and check if conditions are appropriate for the crossing on your chosen day.
When you book a multi-day rental, the boat is reserved for you for the entire period. However, you return the boat to Hvar Marina each evening and collect it again the next morning. The boat is not kept overnight.
The rental period is 9:00 – 18:30 each day. This means you can explore different destinations every day without worrying about availability — your boat is guaranteed for each day of your booking.
Multi-day rentals also come with a discount.
We offer both half-day (4–5 hours) and full-day private boat tours.
Half-day tours are ideal if you’d like to:
You’ll still have plenty of time left to relax, dine, or explore Hvar Town in the afternoon.
Full-day tours give you more flexibility to:
Get in touch with us, let us know how much time you have and what kind of experience you’re looking for (more swimming, more exploring, or a mix of both), and we’ll recommend the best itinerary for your schedule.
Yes — the Blue Cave on Biševo island is one of our most popular private tour destinations. The trip from Hvar takes about an hour each way by speedboat. We time our visits to avoid the longest queues, though some waiting is normal in peak season (typically 30–60 minutes in July and August). Most guests combine the Blue Cave with stops at Stiniva beach, the Green Cave, and other islands on the way back.
Our tours showcase the very best of the Hvar archipelago and surrounding islands. Popular highlights include the famous Blue Cave and Green Cave on Biševo, the dramatic Stiniva beach on Vis, the striking Red Rocks, and the beautiful Pakleni Islands (Palmižana, Jerolim, Stipanska, Vlaka). Along the way, we visit secluded swimming bays that are only reachable by boat.
We can also tailor your day with island hopping to Vis Town, winery visits, and relaxed lunch stops at traditional konobas. Every tour is fully customisable—just tell us what you’d love to see, and we’ll design the perfect itinerary.
Island hopping around Hvar is ideal for a full-day adventure on the water. We can create a tailored route that combines lively beach clubs, relaxed cocktail bars on the Pakleni Islands, and quiet swimming stops in hidden bays. This style of trip works especially well for stag and hen parties, birthday celebrations, and groups of friends looking for a fun, social day out. Share the vibe you’re aiming for—chilled and scenic, party-focused, or a mix of both—and we’ll plan the perfect route to match.
Our tours depart from Hvar Town harbour. If you're staying in Split, you can reach Hvar by catamaran ferry in about an hour, making it easy to join a tour as a day trip.
We don't currently offer departures directly from Split, but we're happy to help you plan the logistics so you can make the most of your day.
Yes! We can include a winery visit or a lunch stop at a traditional konoba (tavern) on any of our tours. Hvar is known for its local wines — especially Plavac Mali — and there are several excellent wineries and restaurants accessible by boat. Just let us know your preferences when booking and we'll work it into your itinerary.
All private tours include a professional skipper and fuel, so there are no hidden costs on the water.
Your skipper also acts as a local guide, taking you to the best swimming spots, hidden bays, and recommending great restaurants along the way.
Every boat comes equipped with:
Prices typically start from around €450 for smaller boats and go up to about €700 for the Marlin Pro (up to 12 passengers).
A full-day private tour usually runs for approximately 8 hours, usually from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
This gives you plenty of time to explore multiple stops, swim, have lunch at a seaside restaurant, and enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed.
If you prefer a shorter outing, half-day private tours of about 4 hours are also available.
We keep it simple. To confirm your booking, we ask for a deposit paid via credit card (we use Stripe) or PayPal. The remaining balance is paid in cash on the day of your tour or rental.
You'll receive a booking confirmation by email once your deposit is received. If you have any questions about payment, just reach out — we're happy to help.
We offer a full refund if you cancel before the cutoff date stated in your booking confirmation. If weather conditions on the day make it unsafe to go out (strong wind, rough seas), we'll reschedule your tour to another day or issue a full refund — your safety always comes first. Check your booking confirmation for specific cancellation terms.
PayPal payments can sometimes show as "pending" for a short time — this is normal and usually resolves within a few hours.
Your booking is confirmed once we receive and process the payment.
If your payment stays pending for more than 24 hours, please contact us and we'll sort it out right away.
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for July and August when Hvar is at its busiest, as popular dates can fill up weeks in advance. During the shoulder season (May, June, September, October), there is usually more flexibility, but it’s still wise to book at least a few days in advance to secure your preferred boat and time slot.
Booking offers are typically valid for 24 to 48 hours. During peak season (July–August), popular boats and dates fill up quickly, so we recommend confirming your reservation as soon as possible.
If the deposit is not paid by the due date, the boat will be released and made available to other customers. If you need a short extension, contact us and we’ll do our best to hold the offer for you.
Yes — Croatian maritime law requires a valid boat licence to operate any motorised vessel, regardless of engine size or boat type. This applies to all motor boats in our fleet.
Under the Croatian Maritime Code, operating a powered vessel without a valid licence is illegal and can result in significant fines from the harbour master or coastguard. There are no exceptions for tourists or small engines.
A Category B boat licence (or equivalent from your home country) is the minimum required for the motor boats in our fleet. Licences issued in EU member states are recognised in Croatia. If your licence was issued outside the EU, please check with us before booking.
No problem — our skipper service is available for all motor boats. An experienced local skipper joins your boat, handles all navigation, and you simply enjoy the day. The skipper knows every hidden cove and can suggest the best route for your group.
Just select the skipper option when booking, or ask us via WhatsApp and we'll arrange everything.
Many international licences are accepted in Croatia, including those from EU countries, the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia.
For US-based certificates (such as a Michigan Boating Safety Certificate or a US Coast Guard licence), we may ask you to send a copy in advance so we can verify it meets Croatian requirements.
If you're unsure whether your licence qualifies, just send us a photo and we'll confirm within 24 hours.
Yes! We regularly accommodate large groups of 10–15+ people. Depending on your group size, we can arrange multiple boats to travel together so everyone stays close and enjoys the day as a group.
We’ve hosted bachelor and hen parties, corporate outings, family reunions, and groups of friends. Share your group size, preferred date, and any special requests, and we’ll put together a tailored plan and quote just for you.
Absolutely — we love organising celebration tours! Whether it's a stag do, hen party, or birthday celebration, we can plan the perfect day on the water.
Think island hopping, beach club stops, swimming in secluded bays, and a Bluetooth sound system for your own playlist. We can arrange multi-boat setups for larger groups and help with special requests like champagne or decorations.
Get in touch and tell us what you have in mind, and we'll start crafting your ideal celebration on the water.
Yes, we work with travel agents and tour operators. If you're a travel professional looking to offer boat tours or rentals in Hvar to your clients, please get in touch and we'll discuss partnership options and commission rates.
In early May, the sea around Hvar is usually a refreshing 17–19°C, suitable for a quick dip. By late May and into June, it typically reaches 20–23°C, which most visitors find comfortable for swimming. If you’re visiting in early spring and prefer sightseeing to swimming, tours can emphasize caves, coastal scenery, and island stops instead of swimming bays. Peak swimming season is from late June through September, when the water is generally a warm 24–27°C.
Stiniva Beach on Vis is surrounded by high cliffs, so boats can’t dock directly on the shore. We’ll anchor just outside the bay, and you’ll swim a short distance of about 30–50 metres through the narrow cliff opening to reach the pebble beach. The water is usually calm and shallow, making the swim manageable for most people.
If you’re not a confident swimmer, please let us know in advance so we can adjust the itinerary and visit beaches with easier access instead, ensuring you still have a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Most rentals and tours depart from our base in the centre of Hvar Town at Šetalište Put Križa 3 — right on the waterfront and easy to reach on foot from anywhere in town.
For private tours, we can sometimes arrange pickup from hotel piers (for example, the pier below Hotel Amfora). When booking, please tell us which hotel you’re staying at and we’ll confirm if direct pier pickup is possible.
Yes! We provide private sea transfers between Hvar and other coastal destinations including Split, Brač, Vis, Korčula, and Dubrovnik. Transfers are available on our fast RIBs with a professional skipper. It's a scenic, comfortable, and often faster alternative to the public ferry. Check our Transfers page for routes and pricing.
Absolutely! We operate during the shoulder seasons (May–June and September–October), which are becoming increasingly popular. You'll enjoy fewer crowds, calmer seas, and more availability at lower prices. The sea is warm enough for comfortable swimming from mid-May through October. Many of our repeat guests deliberately choose shoulder season for a more personal, relaxed experience.
We typically respond within minutes. Drop us a message and we'll help you plan the perfect day on the water.
