Komiža

Komiža is a charming fishing village on the western coast of Vis island, sitting in a deep, sheltered bay facing the open Adriatic. It's the closest port to the island of Biševo and the famous Blue Cave, making it the traditional departure point for cave visits.

The village has preserved its authentic fishing heritage — colourful wooden boats still line the harbour, and the daily fish market is a local institution. The waterfront is dotted with excellent restaurants. Jastozera is famous for its lobster, served in a converted 16th-century fortress.

On our Blue Cave tours, Komiža is an optional stop for lunch or a quick swim at the town beach. The bay has beautiful, calm water and a relaxed atmosphere that's a world away from the busier islands closer to the mainland.
