Ivan Dolac is a small wine-producing village on Hvar's steep south coast, famous for its Plavac Mali vineyards. The village clings to the cliffs high above the sea, with terraced vineyards cascading down the hillside — a landscape that's been cultivated for centuries.
Together with neighbouring Sveta Nedjelja, Ivan Dolac forms the heart of Hvar's wine country. The combination of steep south-facing slopes, intense sunshine, and sea mist creates ideal conditions for producing some of Croatia's most celebrated red wines.
Below the village there's a long pebble beach with crystal-clear water and a few waterfront restaurants. Arriving by boat from Hvar town, the dramatic cliff scenery along the south coast makes the journey almost as memorable as the destination itself.
