The Pakleni Islands are a chain of some twenty islets, close enough to Hvar Town to see from the waterfront and different enough to feel like another place. The route usually begins at Jerolim, the nearest island, for a first swim off the rocks, and moves on to Stipanska, the bay of the Carpe Diem beach club on Marinkovac. From there it follows the chain west to Palmižana on Sveti Klement, where the sandy bay of Vinogradišće and a handful of very good restaurants make the natural lunch stop, and on to Vlaka, an old fishing hamlet with a quiet cove and a family restaurant among the vines. The last swim is at Mlini, a shallow bay so clear it looks like a pool.
